Montemarciano lies to the north of the mouth of the river Esino. It features low hills facing the sea and other hills in the hinterland. To the east you can enjoy a nice view of the gulf of Ancona. In the historical centre you can see the Theatre Alfieri, where theatre performances are regularly held.
Along the 5 km long pebbled beach there are bathing establishments, where music events and festivals are organized, as well as free beaches.
In the past Marina di Montemarciano was for sure a Roman settlement, as recent finds document. Probably it was a “mutatio”along the coast, i.e. stables where mounted messengers could change horses and a tavern to obtain refreshment.
Along the State Road 16 the Mandracchio is a building dating back to the 15th century which was built as a stable for changing horses and for postal delivery.
